Cherry and lavender glass are applied to a gather of clear then fused in the furnace. Special care is taken not to blend the color combination so that each color occupies it's own space within the design. The individual colors represent flower petals of a cherry tree blossom. Japanese turn out in large numbers at Hanami festivals to celebrate the beauty of the Sakura at park, shrine and temple flower-viewing parties. The custom of Hanami dates back centuries with festivals being held. 8.5" W x 4.5" H
